If you want to join YOTA, you must first read and agree to the Charter of Values.
Participation
YOTA is a collaborative and participatory project. We invite you to find your way to be part of it.
Respect
Both the community and the resources it contains (be they collective possessions and resources, the skills and time of members, or private belongings people chose to share with the YOTA community) are to be treated with care. An important part of this is cleaning up after yourself as well as taking responsibility for the cleanliness of YOTA events.
Kinship
The YOTA community is grounded in care and collective intention. This involves building connection to the space, honoring the spirit, and treating it as a second home. We uphold values of empathy and sensitivity towards intersectionality. There is no space for homophobia, racism, transphobia, ableism or classism at YOTA; if these issues arise, they must be dealt with in a timely fashion.
Magic
The magic in YOTA is created by joy, positivity and creativity.
Safety
Care for the people around you and be safe. If you notice something dangerous, let others know in a timely manner.
Open communication and honesty
We are here to grow and learn from each other. When disagreements emerge, be ready to work through the conflict and be gracious in giving and receiving feedback.
Be inclusive and check your ego at the door.
No one is the main character.
